First Snow of 2008!!
For those of you who are curious what winter is like here. This is after storm #1 in which Gardnerville probably got around 4-5" of snow (see #13 of the truck...what's on top is what we had at the house). In storm #2 we probably got another 4-5". This is an unusual amount of snow for the valley. Pictures 1-12 are on northbound 395 going from home to the shopping center at the south end of Carson City. The next four pictures are in the shopping center parking lot. The next 13 are on southbound Jacks Valley Road (a state highway) that runs along the foothills of the Sierra and through the town of Genoa. Storm #2 was just starting to come in on that ride. The next 7 pictures are just outside the house. Our street was plowed by a neighbor with a small plow...not an unusual thing around here. Beginning with the cat the pictures are after storm #2 and around the house and neighborhood...after that storm the county actually plowed our street (with a grader)...not a usual thing around here but it probably cut down on headaches for them. It would have been a real mess if it had been left to melt as it turned really cold after storm #2.Read More
